UPI Team Advances in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)
by Pend. Matematika    Jan 07, 2026

Bandung — The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) is an international mathematical modeling competition organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP). The competition challenges students to formulate mathematical solutions to open-ended real-world problems, encompassing the stages of modeling, analysis, and interpretation of results presented in the form of a scientific report.

In preparation for selecting Indonesia’s representatives for MCM 2026, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, through the Directorate of Science and Technology Talent Development, conducted a national selection process on Monday, December 22, 2025. The selection was held online via Zoom Meeting and was attended by participants from various universities across Indonesia. The process included a supervised online written examination. This stage served as an initial step in determining the best teams to be facilitated and coached for participation in the international MCM 2026 competition.

Based on the announced selection results, UPI Mathematics Team 5 from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), consisting of Ajeng Tia Vijola, Putri Salsa Nur Sifa, and Sabila Novitriani, was declared successful and selected as one of the teams to be facilitated for participation in MCM 2026. This achievement represents a proud accomplishment and reflects the academic excellence and mathematical modeling capabilities of UPI students at the national level. The selected team will subsequently undergo a series of coaching and training sessions prior to competing in the MCM 2026 event.
