Bandung — The Mathematics Study Program of FPMIPA UPI organized a Workshop on Preparation for the National Science Olympiad (OSN) at the junior high school level for mathematics teachers in Sukabumi City on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and Friday, April 17, 2026. The workshop was conducted in two sessions, held at the JICA Auditorium of FPMIPA UPI and at SMP Kehidupan Baru, Sukabumi City, as an effort to enhance teachers’ readiness in guiding students for the OSN.
The workshop began with an opening session that included the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, a prayer, and welcoming remarks from representatives of the Mathematics MGMP of Sukabumi City as well as the Mathematics/Mathematics Education Study Program. This session marked the start of a series of activities focused on strengthening teachers’ competencies in Olympiad training.
During the first day, participants were presented with a review of the 2025 Junior High School OSN as a source of motivation for the 2026 competition. In addition, strategies for independent training management were discussed, covering preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants also received an overview of OSN problem types at various levels, ranging from city to international competitions, along with relevant references. The session continued with a focused discussion on geometry as one of the key areas in mathematics competitions.
On the second day, the workshop proceeded with further material reinforcement covering algebra and number theory, as well as combinatorics and statistics. These topics were designed to deepen teachers’ understanding of subjects frequently encountered in the OSN. As a closing activity, participants completed a post-test consisting of essay questions and practice problem-solving as a form of evaluation of the knowledge gained throughout the workshop.
Through this workshop, it is expected that mathematics teachers in Sukabumi City will improve their competencies in coaching students, thereby contributing to better achievements in the Junior High School National Science Olympiad.
