Bandung, June 13, 2026 – The Chemistry and Chemistry Education Study Program of the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) successfully held the first International Conference on Advances in Chemistry and Chemistry Education (ICoACCE) 2026. Themed “Transformative Chemistry and Chemistry Education in the Era of Sustainability and Digitalization,” the international conference took place in the Auditorium of the JICA Building, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UPI, and served as a platform for academic collaboration for researchers, educators, students, and practitioners from various countries.
ICoACCE 2026 was attended by 193 registered participants, with 140 presenters participating both on-site and online. Participants came from various countries, including Indonesia, Philippines, Colombia, India, and Nigeria, demonstrating the high level of enthusiasm of the international academic community for current issues in chemistry and chemistry education.
The event began with a speech from the Chair of ICoACCE 2026, Prof. Heli Siti Munawaroh, M.Si., Ph.D., conveyed the importance of international conferences as a platform for knowledge exchange and strengthening cross-border academic collaboration networks. This opportunity provides an opportunity for us to learn from each other, broaden our perspectives, and build partnerships that will lead to impactful research collaborations in the future. The event was then officially opened by the Vice Rector for Research, Community Service, and Partnerships at UPI, Prof. Dr. Agus Setiabudhi, M.Si.
In his remarks, Prof. Agus Setiabudhi emphasized that international conferences are a strategic tool to strengthen the contribution of higher education institutions to the development of science, research, and innovation that impact the global community. Through forums such as ICoACCE, it is hoped that various research collaborations and publications will emerge that can address future challenges, particularly in the context of digital transformation and digital transformation.

Keynote Speaker
The conference featured three internationally renowned keynote speakers that shared their insights and latest research findings with the participants: Prof. Maija Aksela, Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki, Finland; Prof. Ts. Chm. Dr. Ahmad Zuhairi Abdullah from Universiti Sains Malaysia; and Dr. The keynote speaker was Dr. Mihye Won from Monash University, Australia.
Furthermore, seven invited speakers contributed to various scientific sessions: Prof. Allen A. Espinosa, Ph.D., from the Philippine Normal University, Philippines; Dr. Sofa Fajriah from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN); Dr. rer. nat. Rino Rakhmata Mukti from the Bandung Institute of Technology; Prof. Sungyun Lee from Kyungpook National University, South Korea; Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M.Sc., from Yogyakarta State University; Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Asep Supriatna from the Indonesian University of Education; and Mita Nurhayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., from the Indonesian University of Education.
The conference covered various strategic topics. In the field of chemistry education, the scope of discussion included digitalization of chemistry education, learning assessment, equity and inclusion, chemistry teacher education, and curriculum development and education policy. Meanwhile, in the field of chemistry, discussions covered sustainable chemistry and green innovation, smart materials and nanotechnology, renewable energy, biotechnology and bioinformatics, food chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and the application of artificial intelligence in multidisciplinary chemical research.
To support the dissemination of research results, ICoACCE 2026 also collaborated with various national and international scientific journals, both indexed by Scopus and SINTA. This collaboration provided opportunities for participants to publish their scientific work in reputable journals relevant to their respective fields of study.
ICoACCE 2026 proceeded smoothly and received a positive response from participants. In addition to providing a forum for sharing knowledge and research results, the conference also served as an important opportunity to expand academic networks and strengthen international collaboration in the development of chemistry and chemistry education.
