As an initial step in strengthening the implementation of interdepartmental collaboration, the Biology Study Program of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) and the Biology Study Program of International Women University (IWU) organized a training event titled “Isolation and Cultivation of Microorganisms: Bacteria and Fungi.” The training was held on June 17–18, 2025, at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA), UPI.
This activity was designed to enrich the laboratory experience of IWU Biology students, consisting of 2nd, 4th, and 6th-semester students. A total of 18 participants took part in the intensive two-day training, guided directly by lecturers and instructors from UPI.
The event began with an opening session led by Restu Utari Dewina, M.Si., as the master of ceremonies. A warm welcome was delivered by Dr. Wahyu Surakusumah, M.T., Head of the Biology Study Program at UPI, who emphasized the importance of cross-campus collaboration in developing students’ laboratory skills. Following this, the Head of the Biology Study Program at IWU, Tami Rahma Lestari, S.Pt., M.I.L., also gave a speech, expressing her appreciation for UPI’s full support in this training program.
Dr. Peristiwati, M.Si., served as the primary instructor for the core training session. The materials presented covered techniques for isolating microorganisms from the environment, methods for cultivating bacteria and fungi, and the practical use of selective and differential media. The training was conducted interactively, allowing students to practice hands-on under intensive guidance.
