FPMIPA UPI Proudly Congratulates Dr. Della Rahmawati for Winning the 2024 Women in Science Award

On November 11, 2024, Dr. Della Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., an alumna of the Chemistry Program at FPMIPA Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), was honored with the prestigious L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (FWIS) 2024 Award.

Dr. Della received this recognition for her remarkable contribution to food security research through the development of iron-rich kelakai (Stenochlaena palustris)-based nori sprinkle and non-soy tempeh. Her innovations aim to enhance maternal and child nutrition and tackle stunting, a major health challenge in Indonesia.

Currently a researcher and lecturer at Swiss German University, Tangerang, Dr. Della combines local wisdom with modern science to create sustainable solutions that directly impact the community.

The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program has supported over 4,400 female scientists from 110 countries since its inception. In Indonesia, the program has been running for 21 years, empowering 75 women researchers from various universities. This year, Dr. Della was selected as one of four awardees, further cementing her role as a trailblazer in science.

FPMIPA UPI expresses its deepest appreciation for Dr. Della’s achievements. “We are immensely proud of alumni like Dr. Della, who have elevated FPMIPA and UPI to international recognition. We hope this award inspires our students and alumni to continue contributing to society through science.”
