Bandung, October 17, 2025 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences Education (FPMIPA) of the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) officially launched the Green Campus FPMIPA program through the Launching of Green Campus LESTARI FPMIPA UPI 2025 event, which took place on the FPMIPA UPI campus. This event marks an important milestone in strengthening UPI’s commitment to sustainable development and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 13 (Climate Action).
The event, which began at 7:30 a.m., started with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem and the UPI anthem, followed by a prayer led by Prof. Al Jupri, Ph.D. The atmosphere became even more solemn when the Dean of FPMIPA, Prof. Dr. rer. nat Adi Rahmat, M.Si, gave a speech and was opened by the Vice Rector for Planning and Finance, Prof. Dr. Rudi Susilana, M.Si, as a form of real commitment to environmental preservation. The activity of watering and fertilizing plants symbolically was also carried out by the university and faculty leaders. This proves the emphasis on the importance of ecological awareness in the educational environment.
In his speech, Prof. Adi Rahmat said that FPMIPA, as a science faculty, has a moral responsibility to be a pioneer in implementing green practices on campus.
One of the important moments in this event was the reading and signing of the FPMIPA Green Campus Commitment Pledge, which was read by Resik Ajeng Maria, M.Pd. and Irfan Taufik, S.Kom. This commitment was also signed by the Rector of UPI, all Vice Rectors, Secretary of the Board of Trustees (MWA), as well as representatives of lecturers, educational staff, and students as a symbol of the synergy of all elements of the campus to maintain environmental sustainability.
As part of the series of events, the committee also screened a video titled Green Snap Reels Challenge, which featured various environmental actions taken by students, and held a waste management demonstration by Prof. Hertien Koosbandiah Surtikanti, MSc.ES., Ph.D. The event then continued with a Green Campus-themed games session and a coffee break that was packaged in an environmentally friendly manner without the use of single-use plastics.
Towards the end of the event, the winners of the video and game competitions were announced, accompanied by the distribution of door prizes. The event was closed enthusiastically by the MC.
The launch of the Green Campus FPMIPA is expected to be the first step for all faculties at UPI to implement sustainability principles in all academic and non-academic activities. With a shared commitment, UPI is determined to become a globally competitive and environmentally friendly university, fully supporting the achievement of the 2030 SDGs
