FabLab Edu: UPI’s Major Step in Enhancing Creativity and Innovation
On May 14, 2024, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) inaugurated the Fabrication Laboratory Education (FabLab Edu). In this modern era, the demand for quality education is pressing. However, the students’ ability to pay tuition fees must also be considered. Therefore, UPI strives to enhance existing facilities without burdening the students, by building stronger networks.
FabLab Edu was established to complement the chemistry laboratory equipment for the Chemistry Education and Chemistry Study Programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA). In addition to internal support from UPI, the establishment of this laboratory also received support from the Korean Government through the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) program. UPI’s Rector, Prof. Dr. H. M. Solehuddin, M.Pd., M.A., stated that FabLab Edu is the result of strong cooperation between UPI and Sogang University, South Korea. This collaboration aims to strengthen the scientific and educational capabilities of future science teachers.
Prof. Solehuddin hopes that FabLab Edu can be maximally utilized to foster the creativity of students and future teachers, thereby enhancing innovation in teaching. On behalf of UPI, he expressed his gratitude to Sogang University and the LUPIC program, represented by Prof. Won Koo Lee, the Director of LUPIC, for their support in improving the quality of teaching and learning in Indonesia. “I hope this cooperation can continue with various future projects that will help us achieve our common goals,” he concluded.
