Vision and Mission

The establishment of MP-PE aims to prepare students to become skilled planners, developers, thinkers, and or practitioners in the field of physics education. This is one of the manifestations of UPI's vision to be a "Leading and Outstanding University," with a mission to provide education to prepare competitive global teaching professionals and other professionals. In addition, graduates of the MP-PE program are expected to be individuals with high integrity, who are open-minded, responsive to the development of science and technology, and who continuously motivate themselves as professional scientists and educators.

The primary objective of this study program is to produce graduates who not only possess a strong foundation in physics but also have the ability to teach, solve problems, and conduct research in physics education. Graduates are expected to be competent, creative individuals who contribute to the advancement of science and education.

Description of Program Educational Objective (PEO) of MP-PE

PEO

Description

PEO-1

Graduates possess a deep understanding of physics content and a strong command of physics pedagogy, encompassing approaches, methods, strategies, as well as the assessment, evaluation, and development of physics learning.

PEO-2

Graduates are able to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems in physics education, and they possess a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to their work.

PEO-3

Graduates have the ability to develop knowledge and technology in the field of physics education through interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research, leading to the creation of innovative and validated works.

The development of learning outcomes and the MP-PE curriculum aligns with the four objectives of European education: preparing students for the labor market, active citizenship, personal development, and advanced knowledge. How the programs and activities designed by this program are connected to these four higher education objectives.

Programs and Learning Process at MP-PE (IQF)

Preparation for sustainable employment

  • Guest Lecturers from Teacher in Indonesia

  • Project Based Learning/Developing innovative learning media

Preparation for life as active for active citizens in democratic societies

  • Community service program

  • Case method learning

Personal development

  • Encouraging students' critical, creative thinking skills, pedagogy skills, problem solving skills, through a lecture process that focuses on student needs

The development and maintenance, through teaching, learning and research of a broad, advanced knowledge base.

  • Encouraging students to conduct scientific research with lecturers, which is published in accredited and non-accredited national journals

The MP-PE curriculum is designed to achieve more specific Program Learning Outcomes (PLO). These PLOs refer to the competencies and skills that graduates must possess upon completing their education. The following is an explanation of the PLO that will shape the curriculum structure.

  1. PLO-1 aims for graduates to demonstrate scientific, educational, and religious attitudes and behaviors that contribute to improving the quality of life in society, nation, and state based on academic culture, norms, and ethics
  2. PLO-2 Master the theoretical concepts of classical and modern physics to solve contextual problems.

  3. PLO-3 Master the philosophy, concepts, and theories of learning in education and their implications for physics learning.

  4. PLO-4 Master quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research methods in physics education to address physics education issues using interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches.

  5. PLO-5 Integrate learning and innovation skills, mastery of technology and information, career development, and life skills to become lifelong learners.

  6. PLO-6 Develop and publish logical, critical, systematic, and creative thinking through scientific research, design creation, or artistic works using interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches, considering and applying humanities values according to their expertise.

  7. PLO-7 Conduct and manage physics education research to solve problems using interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches, resulting in innovative and validated work

  8. PLO-8 Publish research papers in nationally accredited journals or international seminar proceedings or international journals.
