Bandung, August 11, 2025 — The Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) has officially appointed Prof. Dr. Elah Nurlaelah, M.Si. as Professor in the field of Tertiary Algebra Education, as stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology No. 3218/M/KPT.KP/2025.
The appointment ceremony took place at the Parterre Meeting Room, UPI Rectorate Building, led by UPI Rector Prof. Dr. Didi Sukyadi, M.A., and attended by university and faculty leaders. Also present were the Chair of the UPI Academic Senate, Prof. Dr. Dadang Sunendar, M.Hum., along with other academic dignitaries.
Prof. Elah earned her Doctorate in Mathematics Education from UPI in 2009, a Master of Science in Mathematics from Gadjah Mada University in 1997, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from IKIP Bandung in 1990. As a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics Education at FPMIPA UPI, she has taught a wide range of courses in algebra and statistics—covering group theory, ring theory, algebraic structures, applied statistics, and data science—as well as research methodology and education seminars.
Her academic contributions extend to supervising and promoting research in innovative mathematics education, including the development of chatbot-based learning tools, microlearning modules, Problem-Based Learning models, and ethnomathematics studies. These initiatives reflect her dedication to advancing adaptive and contextually relevant mathematics education.
Prof. Elah’s appointment as Professor not only highlights her individual achievements but also strengthens UPI’s commitment to the Tri Dharma of higher education—education, research, and community service—while inspiring the advancement of high-quality, impactful mathematics education in Indonesia.
