As part of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia’s (UPI) ongoing commitment to academic excellence and global quality assurance, the Master’s Program in Mathematics Education participated in an international accreditation assessment conducted by the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN) on June 30 and July 1, 2025. The evaluation aimed to validate the program’s quality standards and alignment with international benchmarks in mathematics education.

The accreditation process involved a delegation of expert reviewers from ACQUIN, who carried out a series of structured virtual meetings with stakeholders across the faculty. The session for the Master’s Program in Mathematics Education featured a comprehensive dialogue with program leaders, faculty members, students, alumni, and administrative staff. These interactions were designed to examine various aspects of the program, including curriculum design, teaching methodologies, research culture, and student support systems.

Among the expert assessors was Prof. Dr. Matthias Ludwig, a prominent figure in mathematics education from Goethe University Frankfurt, whose insights provided valuable external perspectives. The panel appreciated the dynamic and innovative character of the master’s program, particularly in its efforts to integrate contemporary educational approaches and develop strong research competencies among students.

Over the years, the Master’s Program in Mathematics Education at UPI has distinguished itself as a center of excellence, attracting high-achieving students and fostering significant academic contributions in areas such as ethnomathematics, digital learning, and mathematics task design. The program has established strong links with professional associations, supported by a team of highly qualified lecturers and professors who regularly engage in national and international scholarly activities.

The accreditation visit by ACQUIN is expected to strengthen the program’s global visibility and reaffirm its reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading graduate programs in mathematics education. The recommendations and reflections from the review will serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement and will support UPI’s broader mission to be a world-class university.
