by Adinda FPMIPA    Sep 30, 2025

On Monday, September 29, 2025, Fablab Edu UPI held a workshop for the lecturers of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA). This workshop aimed to demonstrate the utilization of the FabLab in research and in university-level teaching. The workshop was officially opened by Mrs. Triannisa Rahmawati, S.Pd., M.Si., and was accompanied throughout the event by Mrs. Miarti Khikmatun Nais, M.P.d., and Mrs. Rosyidah Syafaatur Rohmah, M.Pd.

The first activity in the workshop was a laboratory tour that provided explanations about the machines available at Fablab Edu and discussed their potential uses for lecture activities as well as research purposes.

Next, a laser cutter machine demonstration was conducted, guided by Vito Winata Haunan. This demonstration was designed to provide a direct overview of the laser cutter’s operation, from the process of setting up digital designs to the stage of cutting or engraving materials with high precision. Participants were then introduced to various types of materials that can be processed using the laser cutter, as well as techniques for optimizing parameter settings such as laser speed and power. Additionally, the demonstration produced souvenirs that could be developed into independent business products, such as keychains, wall decorations, and other souvenirs.

Through this workshop, it is hoped that the FabLab can become more involved as a center for digital innovation and production within the campus environment, providing tangible support for the development of creativity, prototypes, and applied research with an impact on technology-based entrepreneurship. Thus, this workshop aims to strengthen the synergy among education, research, and business development within the academic community in a sustainable manner.
