Thursday, July 10th, 2025, the Chemistry Education and Chemistry Study Program UPI, supported by the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC), held the “Workshop on Developing Green Chemistry Experiments with a Small-Scale Approach for High School Chemistry Teachers in West Bandung Regency.” This workshop is part of a series of events conducted offline at the Chemistry Learning & Teaching Research Laboratory (LPBM) of FPMIPA UPI, continuing from the previous online meeting. The workshop participants were high school and vocational school teachers who are members of the Chemistry Subject Teachers’ Association (MGMP) in West Bandung Regency. In this workshop, the participants were guided to develop Green Chemistry Experiments using a Small-Scale approach based on chemistry topics for grades X, XI, and XII.
The workshop was opened by Ms. Vidia Afina Nuraini, S.Si., M.Sc., who served as the master of ceremony, followed by a welcoming speech from Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si. In his speech, the teachers were introduced to the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC), which supports the implementation of this workshop. Then, the teachers were directed by Ms. Rosi Oktiani, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Ms. Febriati Dian Mubarokah, M.Si.P., to conduct green chemistry experiments on chemistry topics predetermined for grades X, XI, and XII. The teachers were encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions for improvements regarding the experimental procedures carried out and to discuss them further after the experiments were completed.
In addition to conducting laboratory experiments, the teachers were invited by Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si., to tour the newly completed Microteaching Room and the Fabrication Laboratory Education (Fablab Edu). Both of these educational facilities were developed with the support and collaboration of LUPIC.
After this short visit, the teachers returned to LPBM to continue the activities, specifically providing feedback on the experiments that had been conducted and demonstrating new experimental ideas that could be further developed. The activity was then concluded with messages and motivation delivered by Prof. Dr. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si., Dr. Hernani, M.Si., and Ms. Rosi Oktiani, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the event organizers, and Ms. Rani Haerani, S.Pd., as the chairperson of the MGMP of West Bandung Regency.
